Some more blast-from-the-past Steve/Danny fic recs in honour of [livejournal.com profile] and_ed's LJ-a-thon Day 2 post about sleepy boys.

Danny can't sleep:

Keep You Coming Slow by Wickedtruth.
If he finds it hard to sleep without this nightly ritual, it's just because he's a creature of habit, that's all. It's just a thing, a little thing. It doesn't mean anything at all. And maybe one day he'll believe himself. Explicit.

For A Little Peace Of Mind by Gehirnstuerm.
Danny is bone-deep exhausted, but he can't sleep. Creative measures have to be taken. Rated Gen.

To sleep, perchance to dream by Sirona.
The one where Danny can't sleep without Steve. It's Grace's birthday, and all she wants is for the Five-0 team to take her camping. Cliche showcased: enforced bed sharing. Rated Gen.

And a delightful snippet of sleepy!boys:

Blaming the sun by Ellievolia.
Steve and Danny have finally the chance to catch on some sleep. Rated Gen.

Three blast-from-the-past Steve/Danny food fic recs in honour of [livejournal.com profile] and_ed's LJ-a-thon Day 2 post about pretty people bringing other pretty people food. Enjoy!

A Day Without Rain by Zarah5.
In which pancakes count as a gesture. Rated Mature.

Metaphorical Pancakes by Somehowunbroken.
Danny makes pancakes and a declaration, which are more related than they might appear. Rated Gen.

Happiness is Homemade by Ellievolia and Sirona.
It's not easy, running a Jersey-style bakery in Hawai'i. Things get a little easier (and a whole lot more fun) once Danny meets Chin and Kono's friend, the one who enjoys leaning against his glass cases despite all of Danny's dire warnings, and starts food fights for no reason whatsoever. Rated Explicit.

Retaliation

"I don't get it, Rach. I offered to sort out the two-timing son-of-a-bitch but she insists she's going to deal with him herself!".

Danny's hot and bothered, tense and angry as he shifts from foot to foot, all up there with nowhere to go. Rachel turns to look out of the window at where her daughter and Steve are sitting quietly together on the lanai, dark heads close in earnest consultation.

Danny may be Grace's biological father, but sometimes Rachel thinks that she's got more in common with her other dad.

She almost feels sorry for her daughter's erstwhile boyfriend.

Is it sad that I find it as hot as I do tragic that Sam sleeps with a gun under his pillow even in the bunker?

How annoying and disappointing is it when you see a fic summary that makes you think "Wow, yes, what a great idea, I really want to read that!"... and then you notice that it's written by an author that (for whatever reason - characterisation, grammar, punctuation, insert your bugbear of choice here...) you can't bear to read??

*sigh*

You can so tell that Alex is used to handling babies :)

So many of these are actually true... I mean, how can you possibly trust someone who is ambivalent about Marmite??

Part of what I now recognise as the pattern I go into when I start to become over-stressed at work is that I increasingly lose myself in fandom - I seek (unconsciously, initially) to 'escape' into a different world when this world starts to become hard to bear. Last time that escapist world was H50 (that was when I was writing the daily vignettes that became Why don't you try me? ).

I've just realised that I'm at that point again, hiding in the fandom world of an old favourite. This time round it is at least a show that's long done and dusted, and therefore one that can't go pear-shaped on me. So I'm reading my way through the entire back catalogue of Due South fanfic and finding the whole experience highly entertaining and delightfully unstressful :)

Except, of course, that I should be doing some real-world job hunting rather than spending precious time hiding in '90s Chicago with a Mountie, a Polack detective and a deaf half-wolf...

Being loved by a soggy moggy is a mixed blessing....

Sitting out on the stoop with a cat on my lap, listening to the rain, drinking wine and watching Due South. Not such a bad way to spend a Friday evening.
