Cycled to work and back, 33 km (20 miles).
Beautiful day for cycling, glorious sunshine and little wind. And the birdsong was amazing - loads of summer migrants, especially in the nature reserve: Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs, Whitethroats, Blackcaps, Reed Warblers and Sedge Warblers :)

First ride of the year (the cycle path has been flooded up until now). Beautiful day - just above freezing and frosty on the way out, but a balmy 13C (55F) on the way back with no wind and a low golden sun making everything glow. I'm going to ache a bit tomorrow, but I found it easier than I was fearing to get back in the groove :)
Lovely day for cycling, still and (relatively) mild. My cycle home was blessed with a beautiful sunset, the knowledge that I *wasn't* sitting in the huge traffic snarl-up on the A14 (caused by an accident), and some fine views of a Short-eared Owl hunting over the fields next to the cycle path :)
I *love* riding that bike. It's a hand-built tourer with a light, stiff frame, and it handles beautifully. I bought it to do my London-to-Paris ride 12 years ago - I did my homework before I bought, and I made a good choice. The only problem is that to replace it with an equivalent model these days would set me back a small fortune! Lovely to have something that brings you joy like that :)
The thing about exercise is that however much it hurts while you're doing it, you never regret having done it once you've finished :)
Now, somebody give me FOOD!
Beautiful view of a Barn Owl as I cycled through the nature reserve - it was hunting alongside the track, and settled on a fence post. It sat there until I almost reached it and then flapped away across the path.
Lovely morning for it, though. Set off just before dawn and got to work just after sunrise. Beautiful almost-full moon in the sky. Heard a woodpecker and (icing on the cake!) saw a Barn Owl hunting along the side of the track.
A success so far... :)
