I'm no petrolhead, and I kind of feel that loving driving doesn't quite square with my green beliefs, but I do love it nonetheless.

I drove the first half of the journey home yesterday, across the Welsh mountains from Criccieth to Shrewsbury, on fantastic mostly-deserted mountain roads that were a delight to drive. The road from Trawsfyndd to Bala is particularly spectacular - wide open road with fantastic views and swooping curves, a half hour or so of hitting the bends just right and accelerating out of the curves that was an utter joy for me.

So, yes, I like to drive, even if it's not very green. It's the joy of exercising a skill to the best of my ability, I think :)

As is now traditional for these Welsh New Year holidays, we climbed Cnicht today :)

Went out before dawn this morning to fetch more firewood from the barn... completely still and utterly dark out there, the only lights far off down on the coast, the only sound a pair of Tawny Owls calling to one another... perfect peace and quiet :)

Very gray again today, so still just phone pics. Walked up the Watkin Path, then branched off to visit a deserted copper mine.

Still not really the best weather for photography, but here are a few shots from our walk along the beach today anyway (taken on my phone).

Somewhat soggy in the Welsh mountains today, and not really photography weather. So here's my only shot from today, the view from halfway up Moel Hebog in the rain. Atmospheric but wet!
