For any fellow Depp fans out there...
Couple of snippets from magazines.
Nice little para in October's Empire mag about Johnny in Once Upon A Time In Mexico:
"Top honours in that respect [best performance] - for the second month running, in fact - fall to Depp, as he delivers a display of nutty characterisation that almost outshines his Keith-Richards-goes-boating Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean. His Agent Sands, in between dressing up in preposterously useless disguises and comparing the menu merits of whichever cruddy cafe he happens upon, is a source of constant chuckles, right down to his bonkers half hour."
Sounds like it'll be worth watching!
And this made me laugh, from October's Hotdog:
"The enthusiasm only swells as [Robert] Rodriguez appraises Depp's performance. Often stunned at the spin placed on his screenplay, the director recalls innumerable checks of his manuscript to see if his actor was actually following any of it. "It's just what he does with," Rodriguez concedes with a chuckle. "In the script, he [Sands] pulls out a gun, then says, 'Have you seen one of these?' But Johnny actually managed to turn it around so it looks like he's pulling his dick out. Even the wardrobe, that t-shirt - 'CIA: Cleavage Inspection Agency' - were all his ideas.""
Kind of like the idea of Johnny not following the script!
