Knitting wisdom

I think I'll leave turning the heel of this sock until I'm a bit more sober...

lol.

Ali made me these for Xmas:

and she made me these spider ones for my last birthday:

Apparantly I'm deemed as "sock worthy" in the circles of places like Ravelry :-)

Both of those pairs are FABULOUS! I pretty much stick to one basic pattern but in pretty colours :)

I wasn't aware you knitted. I don't do socks- wish I did. I took a class but never got to finish it. I'm pretty much a baby blanket or shawls kinda girl.

these are awesome, I especially like the first pair! So colorful and sharp! :)

That's probably a really good idea. :)

I mostly knit socks - when the kids were younger I did knit them some sweaters and cardigans (the stripy jumper in my icon is a rainbow jumper I knitted for DS when he was two) and I've knitted hats, but now I knit socks. I love wearing the socks I knit, I love the colours and patterning of sock yarn, and I like working with fine needles and fine wool - plus it's a very portable project, when you're knitting a sock it sort of fits in your hands, and it's easy to carry around with you.

It also impresses the hell out of non-knitters because knitting with DPNs and such thin yarn looks far more complicated than it actually is!

LOL- yes, knitting with dpns is always impressive looking.:) I think it's cool you make socks. I just got a pattern to make little catnip mousies that use dpns with a toe up cast on- something I've got to look up and learn. Yikes.

I've never done the toe-up thing, I knit my socks cuff down, and then Kitchener stitch the toes. One day I'll try it the other way up!
