Gorgeous morning for a run, but I really didn't feel like it - I've been feeling a bit wheezy these last couple of days but I can't tell if its a cold or the rapeseed pollen causing it. Thought I'd give up and go home after the first km, but then I started to feel better and ended up really enjoying it - it was worth persevering :)
Out for 6 km at 0600.
Ran out along the cyclepath and back across the fields, the grass crunching with frost but the early morning sun warm on my face. No-one out there this morning except me, the birds (glorious birdsong) and a few rabbits.
Now for breakfast :)

Cycled to work and back, 33 km (20 miles).
Beautiful day for cycling, glorious sunshine and little wind. And the birdsong was amazing - loads of summer migrants, especially in the nature reserve: Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs, Whitethroats, Blackcaps, Reed Warblers and Sedge Warblers :)

In Basel on business, so out for my usual pre-day of meetings run along the Rhine :)

A day of firsts: first bumblebee of the year, first Chiffchaff singing, first Tortoiseshell butterfly. The Gardener's World guys on TV last night reckoned that we're 20 days behind where we should be with regards to Spring, and that seems about right from what I'm seeing. Fingers crossed that the hard weather is finally behind us now.

Grey and drizzly out there this morning, but several degrees above freezing so I'll take that as a win :)

Finally some (slightly!) milder weather, so headed out from work and ran along the river path.

Pre-breakfast run around the village where I grew up - interesting to see what's changed and what's remained the same.

First run of the year, and a foggy one. So not much scenery to speak of, but it did allow me to focus on some stuff I needed to think through, so all good :)

Very sad to see Leverage end, but I do love how they ended it :)

Out for our traditional 5 km run across the fields before Christmas Day breakfast - only D and I this year, for some reason our teenagers preferred to stay in bed rather than brave the wind and rain with us!

Giving thanks
Dec. 8th, 2012 07:50 amIt is a matter of some joy to me that the heating engineer has fixed our boiler pump, with the result that our central heating system no longer sounds like wounded dinosaur every time it turns on :)

We've just had a load of firewood delivered for the new woodburning stove by the coolest delivery van I've ever seen - a vintage flatbed VW microbus :)

Sep. 30th, 2012 10:25 amMax, you need to understand that the concept of Hut Rules DOES NOT APPLY TO CATS. Not in this house, anyway.
Get off my chair. Now.
