The new Doctor

Christopher Eccleston as a darker, 'edgier' Doctor Who?

Yep, I can go for that :-)

*With apologies to all you foreign or just plain too young types who didn't grow up hiding behind the sofa during episodes of Doctor Who.*

EXTERMINATE!

EXTERMINATE!

Uhm, ah, that was just to show that I DO know Dr Who, though I'm a 'bloody foreigner' *G*

However, living with my English SO has made sure I came to be forced to watch enjoy the Clangers, Dr Who, Red Dwarf...

Gods, you poor thing. I used to like Dr Who, though.

*nods sagely*

I really didn't get Red Dwarf at all, I stared glassy eyed at the TV.

The Clangers? I reallyreally really didn't get that one. Seeing them for the first time when in one's early thirties is just a tad too late.

Dr Who, hmm..... the best of those three, but why did they never simply run upstairs? The Daleks couldn't climb!

I thought Red Dwarf was puerile. Total crap.

I liked the Clangers when I was five. I've probably just grown out of them. :o)

Daleks can't climb stairs? You've been reading The Far Side! Confess!

[identity profile] marquesate.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
Uhm... what's the Far Side?

Oh you mean the animal cartoons by Gary Larson? Now that's hilarious, but I never encountered Daleks.

[identity profile] ihlanya.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, them are those. He did one where the Dalek is at the bottom of the stairs, with a caption something like 'why Daleks didn't take over the world'.

Peter, the office Doctor Who fanatic, told us on Saturday and I let out a huge sigh of relief - last I heard, it was going to be Richard E Grant and I was dreading it. I like Mr Grant as an actor but I think he'd have made a bloody awful Doctor.

So, hands up who thinks Mr Eccleston should play him in the same outfits he wore as the Duke of Norfolk in "Elizabeth"?

*waves hand timidly in air*

"So, hands up who thinks Mr Eccleston should play him in the same outfits he wore as the Duke of Norfolk in "Elizabeth"?"

Mm, yes, I could go with that...

Good Lord. You don't mean they're still running that show?

I used to watch the show, long, long ago, on Public Television, when Tom whatsisface with long rainbow scarf...Baker? (Baker! Estel just Googled "tom daleks" to find out for me.) Gee-whillikers, that must have been 1979? And it was reruns then? And wasn't Tom Baker the 4th or 5th Doctor?

You know about Dr. Who slash?

[identity profile] ihlanya.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, no - *laughs* - please don't tell me Dr Who slash exists...

I left England in 1975 and that was the last I saw of the Daleks. But all the kids used to watch it.
