Photo-a-day

To the Science Museum in London today. Interesting to see examples of the Hurricane and the Spitfire together - when I was a child, Second World War stories were all the rage among the boys, and being able to tell a Hurricane from a Spitfire was a necessary skill. These days the kids are all into sci fi stuff. I suppose we were so much nearer the war then, and still being raised by people who actually lived through it, so it seemed so much more real and relevant to us.

Oh Gosh, I can't believe you were at the museum... I do love the flight gallery and the Ingenious exhibit. Luckily, there are still some people who at least make it those bits of the museum walking in between their hurry to spend all their money on the rubbishy paid bits.

The flight gallery was brilliant - and of course I loved the ship models, too (hadn't realised they were there before now). I think the kids were a bit disappointed with the spy exhibition, but loved the Energy bit. They're still young enough to go big on the interactive stuff.

Oh God, Spying is an awful exhibition. I hate having to sell it to people. I want to work on a Science of Music exhibition, and have big plans.

Danny went on an outward bound course a few years ago, when we told my dad where he'd be staying it turned out that dad had been evacuated to work as a landboy in WWII to the exact same place near Hexham. Dan was sat for ages asking questions and fascinated by it all :-)
