Paris

My one and only photo to prove that I was in Paris this weekend... you can see from the photo just how wet it was, which is why there are no other photos! You can also see how long the queue was to get into the Louvre, which is why I kept on walking :)

Ooh! Jealous.

One of the advantages of living in Europe: it doesn't take long to get to interesting foreign places :)

Wow, yeah, seriously wet. No way I would've waited in a queue that long in the rain, either!

It is a cool picture, nonetheless. *g*

Even though it was so wet I mostly spent the day walking and looking, plus some sitting in cafes watching the world go by. I learnt a long time ago that the only way to do the Parisien galleries is to get there first thing just before they open, otherwise the queues are horrendous.

So cool!

*dreams about how fab it would be to bop over to Paris for the weekend, regardless of rainy weather*

I went over and back on the Eurostar train through the Channel Tunnel, which is so much more civilised than flying. You get a decent seat, a nice meal and a glass of wine, you can use your laptop throughout the entire journey, and you land up at the Gare du Nord right in the middle of Paris rather than at the appalling Charles de Gaulle airport on the outskirts. Much the best way to do the hop over to Paris :)

The hotels were funny, though - Thursday night I was in 5-star soulless executive luxury courtesy of work, and Friday and Saturday in a very quaint little 3-star where I actually had to rearrange the furniture to find a power socket for the laptop - quite a contrast!
