I like to drive

I'm no petrolhead, and I kind of feel that loving driving doesn't quite square with my green beliefs, but I do love it nonetheless.

I drove the first half of the journey home yesterday, across the Welsh mountains from Criccieth to Shrewsbury, on fantastic mostly-deserted mountain roads that were a delight to drive. The road from Trawsfyndd to Bala is particularly spectacular - wide open road with fantastic views and swooping curves, a half hour or so of hitting the bends just right and accelerating out of the curves that was an utter joy for me.

So, yes, I like to drive, even if it's not very green. It's the joy of exercising a skill to the best of my ability, I think :)

Coming from rural Kansas, I started driving early. We had to drive 20 miles for a grocery store, so it was unavoidable. If I go to a city where I can't drive, I get a little stir crazy.

Because of where we lived (and the fact that I didn't go to the local school) I didn't have a social life until I passed my driving test - so that was the best possible incentive for doing so!

I definitely know what you mean!

I love driving, especially on beautiful winding roads. Night driving too; there's something I enjoy about the solitude.

Ah well, you'd really love that Trawsfyndd to Bala road :)

Oh, that sounds like *heaven*! I love to drive. No, it's not very green, and I no longer go for hours-long drives just for the pleasure of being behind the wheel, but yeah, when I do drive I like to make it count, fun-wise.

Yes, that's it exactly!

Favorite form of stress relief is long drives in the country and long night drives. It's refreshing and calming.
