I've been trying to remember the things I missed about the UK when I went to live in New Zealand in the 70's. The punk thing went by without me noticing as it didn't get to NZ then.
English weather. Definitely missed the cold and the rain. The smallness of the UK. When you go to a big, wide open country like NZ, you do notice it. Fish and chip shops. They had them in NZ but the fish was different and tasted odd. (I think it was harpuka, instead of cod.)
I think now I'd miss the weather, the TV (we like ugly soap actors!), the country, the cold seas (taint natural to have warm sea), loose tealeaves (teabags being the work of something evil), just the general attitude to everything. I know it's supposed to be unfashionable, but I like being British!
