Jul. 11th, 2003 01:06 pmBack from my business trip, but didn't get a chance to post last night because I was so exhausted when I got in. Not a bad trip all in all though - the meetings were fairly productive and not too long, thank goodness.
Went for a run along the banks of the Rhine before breakfast yesterday morning (I eat so much on these business trips, and spend so much time sitting around, that I need to do something to kick start my body in the morning). It was a glorious morning, still cool, with the early morning sun just touching the roofs and lighting up the pinky-red brick of the Munster. The river itself was fairly low, the water translucent, greenish, and inviting (I saw one swimmer) - very different from when I was here the time most of continental Europe was flooded, and I saw whole trees being washed downriver. As I came back to the hotel I passed a Rastafarian street sweeper who was singing about Jah and who gave me a big grin. All in all a good start to the day.
I've been rushing around this morning, trying to get lots of stuff done before the weekend. We started the day by having to call out the Gas Board to sort out a gas leak - luckily it seems to have been a straightforward job. Then I had to take the car to get a new tyre, and now I'm supposed to be packing for the weekend's camping trip... can't wait to get up to the Dales, though!
