Wandering about
Mar. 5th, 2004 02:14 pmJust come back from a very pleasant morning in town with DD - bought more art supplies for my coursework, and blew 20 pounds replenished essential supplies in Lush.
To my complete surprise, spotted in a shop window a print of a painting by John Piper of the church in Bristol where my grandmother got married. He painted it in 1940, just after it had been bombed in the Bristol Blitz, and his painting is very much how I remember the church when I visited it as a child (my parents' floristry business was nearby). So I've ordered a copy of the print -it's a bit of family history, really. The original of the painting is in the Tate (which I've never visited) so I'll have to go and take a look some time.
