In honour of National Poetry Month (because even if the nation in question is not mine own, poetry is always worth celebrating). Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] monkeypuzzle for drawing my attention to this event.

This is predictable, yes. But for obvious reasons this one speaks to me, big time. Especially since my trip. This man knew what he was talking about.

"And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking."

*sigh*

I want to be there again...

Another sea poem in honour of National Poetry Month. This one is by Rudyard Kipling, and makes me shiver at the strangeness of the sea. And remember how we can never be anything but intruders into it. I love the juxtaposition of the alien depths and the words from a sunlit world.
