Day Skipper stuff
Nov. 27th, 2004 10:32 amMy Day Skipper class was good this week - calculating tidal heights from tide tables and tide curves. I feel we're getting into the meat of what I need to know. And now there's no excuse for me anchoring on a falling tide and ending up stranded high and dry!
I give thanks yet again for a good brain, though. Some people in the class are finding this stuff challenging, but it's making perfect sense to me. And I give thanks for the stuff my old maths teacher at school instilled into me, about always using a sharp pencil, and laying your work out neatly, and showing your workings so that if you carry an error forward at least you'll get marks for doing the calculation the right way. It sounds obvious, but the experience of what I'm seeing in class shows that it's not entirely so.
Must start investigating practical courses for the Spring.
