Out for 5k at 1100.

Ran 5 times round Fulbourn Rec while the children attempted to damage themselves at the skate park. Luckily we all survived.

Today's run

My run today felt like hard work. Running on soft ground (and on grass that needed cutting) definitely takes more work than running on firmer surfaces - but then, that probably means it's good for me!

These runs with the kids along have been OK (and having them along has been the only way to get my runs in these past few weeks) but it will be nice to be able to run where and when I want when the kids go back to school next week. Running around recreation grounds is fine (I run around the sports field while the kids play at the playground or skateboard park) but it does get a bit boring running round and round the same piece of ground. Today I ran five times round Fulbourn Rec (almost exactly 1km round), while the village rec is about 1.2km round so I don't quite run five times round.

I'm contemplating entering a 10k soon, to give me some added incentive to get out and train. I've had a slack summer, due to a combination of holidays and hot weather, but now it's time to pull my socks up and get serious again. Plus I have some enthusiasm again. I've found one that looks promising, but the description says 'a fairly challenging course but reasonably flat'. I wonder what they mean by 'fairly challenging'?
