Walking the Roman road
Feb. 14th, 2009 04:31 pmDH and I made the resolution this year to go on one good long walk each month. January's was easy, because we saw the year in in North Wales, but February's was always going to be somewhat difficult to fit around sports fixtures. Today we got lucky - DD's match was cancelled, but the weather forecast was bright and dry, so we headed out for our walk.
We caught the bus down to Linton and walked back to Cambridge along the Roman road, a beautiful stretch of greenway with wide hedgerows that rolls its way through farmland and copses. We ate lunch in the sun (actually warm!) at a field edge while watching deer grazing out on the winter wheat, and later surprised a male Sparrowhawk who was hunting in the undergrowth not 6 feet from our path.
Just over 10 miles in total. A good day :-)
