Running club
May. 18th, 2011 02:17 pmSeveral colleagues at work have started up a sort of impromptu running club, and I'm getting a certain amount of pressure to join in.
Thing is, I don't like to run with other people. I like to run alone, running time is thinking time, gives me valuable head space. I bust through writer's blocks while I'm running, think through difficult problems, sort out my life. I don't want to chat.
But it's always hard to explain that I prefer to run alone without it sounding as though I'm saying that actually, I don't want to run with *you*.
Whatever. Running time is my time, and it's valuable to me. So thank you for asking, but no thanks.
