Max, while you and I both know that you *often* sit on the kitchen work surfaces, I would appreciate it if you could refrain from doing so while we have visitors so that I can at least *pretend* that optimal hygiene standards are maintained in this house.

Ohana awards

I am flattered and truly humbled that some of my fics have been nominated for the Ohana Awards, and thank you so much if it was anyone here on my friends list who nominated any of my stories.

However, as someone who is personally uncomfortable with competition I've decided to decline the nominations.

Although I'm not taking part, I'd like to say 'Good luck' to everyone on my friends' list who *is* participating - in my opinion you all deserve to win :)

Star Wars

Struck with a sudden out-of-the-blue urge to watch Star Wars this evening (the original first movie, now rebranded 'New Hope' and numbered 4).

I remember seeing it in the cinema for the first time - the opening sequence with the battleship coming out of the top of the screen over our heads just blew me away. It was something new, and ground-breaking.

Watching it now, it's so iconic. It's become such a part of our popular reference culture that it's a struggle to remember what it was like seeing it new.

(And Han shot first. Definitely.)
