I can relate to the work one too. My dad used to joke that the only guaranteed holidays he had in the cinema industry was Christmas and New Years days, they were the only 2 days the cinema would be closed. With the shifts he used to work he'd often end up coming home in the early hours then going back out the same morning to start again. My jobs not that bad I guess, I am glad of the flexi-time which let me get home at a nice time while the kids were little. I do often crib to Ali though that I spend more time with the people at work than my own family, maybe explains why I get so cranky when I'm off if we're not actually spending time doing something together.
I certainly don't regret the time I took out from work when my kids were younger - it's such a valuable time. Now I need to focus more on having the courage to be *me*, rather than the me that other people want/expect me to be.
A sobering article, though, given that we're all going to die one day, and most of us have no idea when.
