Off to pack my stuff for the sailing trip now - I think I've got everything I need. I'm both excited and nervous. The taxi's coming at 04.30 tomorrow to take me to catch the coach to Heathrow, so I really should go to bed early. But I won't be able to sleep very easily so I might as well stay up as normal.
Did I mention that I was a bit excited?
See you all in a week's time!

Date: 2004-01-29 06:54 pm (UTC)And two possibly useful things:
"Up you're aft" (the farther back a group of lines is, the higher on the mast the sail they control is)
"Can't bloody remember/learn" (Clew, bunt, reef/leech) The order of the gear for a square sail, going fore to aft.

Date: 2004-01-29 08:34 pm (UTC)(Oh, but this voyage of yours is making me all bouncy and squee-y in advance, seeing as I'll not be boarding 'my' tall ship until next June. D'oh! :-)
Go and have the time of your life. And give your ship a cuddle and a kiss on my behalf, too. ;-)
