Sea longing

Not sure how sad this is (well, OK, probably pretty pathetic): on the way back from France I found myself desperately wishing that we were taking the car ferry rather than the Chunnel so that I could get to sea again and feel a deck pitching and rolling beneath my feet.
Must be desperate if I'm even considering a car ferry as sailing...
I've always liked the sea, always enjoyed being by it, but I've never particularly felt the need to be on it before.
I truly didn't expect it to grab me this way.

Date: 2004-02-24 09:44 am (UTC)I remember when I was living in Orlando, which is in the middle of the state, and would come home for the weekend. There I would be driving across the Courtney Cambell Causeway (one of the three long bridges that stretch across Tampa Bay) with my head halfway out the window just INHALING the smell of the salt water.
And the joy of being on even a little sloop-rigged dingy... Hell, give me a cobbled together raft and put me on the water, and I'm a happy girl.
Nope, not sad at all. :-D

I know the feeling, mate.
