Planning and dreaming
Oct. 7th, 2003 02:38 pmOK, so my attack of the mundanes yesterday has brought on three main areas of thought:
- We’re going to go away for my birthday and New Year, only somewhere within the UK (with the school term dates as they are we can only get away for 1 week, so it’s not worth wasting valuable time travelling a long distance to go abroad). We’ll probably get a cottage either in the Lakes or Cornwall (I’m torn between the mountains and the sea). At least I won’t be sitting looking at that
bloodycharming-but-over-familiar duckpond on my birthday. - I think I’m going to sign up to run the Great North Run next September (entries open in January). This is a half marathon (13 miles), which is further than I’ve ever run. I need a training focus, and as I can already walk 13 miles easily, and can probably run about 5, this should be pitched about right.
- What I’d really like to do is take a week or so and go on a sailing course
in the Caribbeansomewhere. I’ve always wanted to learn to sail (yachts, that is) ever since I used to go on holiday to the Isles of Scilly as a child, but I’ve never had the time/money/opportunity/motivation all at the same time. Maybe I can persuade DH that he wants to go skiing (which I don’t like but he loves) while I look after matters domestic, and then I can go sailing in return.
