Exciting stuff!
Jun. 4th, 2004 12:32 pmThings like this aren't supposed to happen around here. I mean, this is a Cambridgeshire village, not downtown Los Angeles, for God's sake.
I was woken at 2.30 a.m. this morning by a police car chase. Heard wheels screeching and sirens wailing, jumped out of bed in time to see a car come hurtling down our cul-de-sac pursued by two police cars. The car (either stolen or a getaway car) went down the bumpy unmetalled track at the bottom of our garden, swerved out of control and crashed into a garden fence two doors up from us. The driver jumped out, body barged a pursuing policeman out of the way, then jumped over the hedge into the school playing fields and made off. I could hear other police cars going along the main road round the other side of the school to head him off, and I gather from what the police outside our house were saying that they did catch him. Then we had a fire enginehunky firemen - yum turn up to remove the car from the fence and make sure it wasn't a fire risk.
And DH slept right through all of this! I just couldn't believe it!
