Good news!

The owner of the little black cat just came to pick her up, with very relieved small daughter in tow. Seems they've just moved into the village and both their cats are still finding their way around.

I've taken her number, though, just in case we get a repeat visit.

Feed the birds

We've fed the birds in this garden ever since we moved in, and the feeding station is very popular. The one thing that's wrong with it is that it's down the far end of the garden - perfect for watching with binoculars from the kitchen window, but that's about it.

So it occurred to me just before Christmas - remembering how much joy I get every Autumn from watching goldfinches on the sunflower heads in the vegetable patch outside my study window - that of course what I should do is set up a feeding station outside the study window. That way I'd have something else to distract me from my studying/work, other than just the time sink from Hell Internet.

So I've used the birthday money my Mum gave me to buy a pole feeder etc. Can't wait to get it set up and see what visits!
