Spent a lovely sunny weekend hiking in the Derbyshire Peak District. On Saturday we walked along Froggatt Edge, enjoying the views and watching the climbers. I was so annoyed at having forgotten to take the camera with me - the heather is just coming into flower so the hills are going that wonderful moorland purple, and the views were breathtaking.
On Sunday we went to Chee Dale, in the White Peak (the limestone area - totally different from the Millstone Grit scenery of Froggatt) - pics on my photo page (see link in left hand column). The kids loved Chee Dale - rocks to climb, abandoned railway tunnels to walk through, and stepping stones in the river at the point where you aren’t allowed through one of the tunnels. We had bought DS his first pair of hiking boots the day before, so he was a very keen walker trying them out on Sunday (verdict: they’re “cool”). DD however doesn’t really understand why they don’t make hiking boots for people as small as her...
Just a lovely weekend, really relaxing, all the family happy and having some fun.
