Resisted the temptation to pour myself a rum and Dr Pepper at teatime and went and gave blood instead.

Claymore and I were discussing your rum and Dr Pepper combination on the way home earlier. With great envy, I might add ... now, we just need to track down a ready supply of Dr Pepper, and we'll be set. ;)

I've had to scrub the past two scheduled blood-donations for illness. For some reason, the silly medical folks do not want influenza-laced blood!

Yup, had the same problem when I went for my last donation. They turned me away as soon as I walked in the door. :)

If you have the Rum and Dr. Pepper after you give blood, it will have more effect.

I called and asked how long I have to wait to give blood after my surgery and they haven't gotten back to me. It's been a couple months now. Maybe I will just drop in and see if they take me.

DH asked the same thing because he's just had surgery, and here they told him that, as long as he hadn't received a blood transfusion, he could give as soon as he felt up to it.
