Now I know what an English robin looks like! I remember hearing from my Mom when I was little, that the American robin redbreasts where named by homesick colonists after the bird they remembered from home. Whether that is entirely true or not, it makes for a nice story, and our bird does not have the bright red coloring this fellow does, which my Mom also knew! :)

This has to be one of my favourite birds. Over here in the UK they tend to be very tame - if you're digging the garden they'll often come right down next to you to take worms you've turned up. Strangely, on the Continent they're a shy woodland bird, apparently!

What a lovely shot :-)
We had one hopping around a tree near us one day last week, trying to get a picture was impossible it was being so busy darting about.
