Took at trip to Fowlmere RSPB reserve on Sunday, in need of escape from the house and food for my soul. A beautiful place, full of birds (although most of the warblers were more easily heard than seen) and not full of people. Just what I was after.
It looks beautifully quiet and relaxing there. The dragonfly shot is amazingly crisp and clear. There's a pond not too far from us that I should really take the camera too, usually a lot of dragons there...
Is this a freshwater marsh? It reminds me very much of a salt water marsh in Cape May, NJ, that I love to wander in! It has a raised boardwalk, too, and lots of dragonflies and damselflies! :D
Yes, it's freshwater. The water actually comes from springs in the chalk, and you can see it bubbling up in the pools in a couple of places, crystal clear. The site was originally used for growing watercress, I believe.
