Sea!

We finally got our acts together and sorted out going to the seaside for my birthday and New Year. *does happy dance*

DH and I have a different view of the seaside. As a child his family holidays were to Norfolk, so to him 'seaside' means shingle, wide flat sandy beaches, and big skies over the North Sea. I'm a West Country girl, with a history of family holidays to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (the latter will forever hold a piece of my heart), so to me 'seaside' is rocky cliffs, little secret bays, and the long fetch of the Atlantic swell driving huge breakers to crash against the rocks.

We went to choose a holiday cottage. His criteria: under 500 pounds for the week. My criteria: very simple - the Atlantic ocean.

So we're off to Cornwall, near to Tintagel on the Atlantic coast. So I'll get to spend my birthday by the ocean. Yay!

We live literally 500m from the North Sea - so I'll go and touch the North Sea and think of all of you.

It's a very dramatic place. And I'm going to be telling DS all about the legends of King Arthur before we go, which we'll both love.

Ohhhh I'm going to Tintagel next summer for some re-enactment. Let me know how it is, lots of people say it is wonderful there.
