According to my children: Neal Caffery = Jack Sparrow Peter Burke = Commodore Norrington ('just as smart, but less morally questionable') Elizabeth Burke = Elizabeth Swann ('smarter than any of the guys in the show') Mozzie = Gibbs (this caused me to actually *sporfle* my beverage)
Also, even though it's the best slash fodder I've seen in years, it's also very much a show we view as a family. Nothing inappropriate, no gore, and lots of difficult-but-honorable behavior, for discussion afterwards.
The longer answer is oh yes--it's very different than H50 (except in its being kind of stylized and super slashy)--but, especially in the first season, the cases are very "White Collar"--unabashedly about art and high culture. I started watching it as a kind of antidote to the sourness of S5 SPN, and it's just refreshing to watch a show where people are openly affectionate and respectful towards each other.
Also, it's the best depiction of a healthy, happy sub/dom bondage relationship you're ever likely to see.
Also, also--sure Matt Bomer is gorgeous, but the older partner, Tim DeKay/Peter Burke is doing wonders for the sexiness of happily married guys in their forties :)
I recently started watching and I'm up to 1.07. I'm really enjoying it! Some people from my old fandom have gotten into it, writing fic and stuff, so I'd like to be able to at least have some appreciation of what they're doing and read episode reviews, etc.
Also Matt Bomer is HOT and there's a lesbian character. :)
It might not be perfect (I mean, what show is?) but DAMN MATT BOMER IS FINE! And the acting and chemistry between him and Tim Dekay?! Priceless IMO. AND THE GLORIOUS D/s overundertones!!! Watched several of the episodes several times!
AND THE GIRLS KICK ASS :D
And all you need to know about it is in this post.

Date: 2011-01-20 08:05 am (UTC)It's just that there are a couple of writers I really rate who are writing White Collar, and I want to understand!
Hope you're starting to feel better, hon *hugs*
