At long last the year turns and the days will start to get longer.

Today's Christmas photo obviously had to be of the snow. This picture is of the village green, taken at 11 p.m. last night when the snow was falling thick and strong. You'll notice that even at that time of night there were people building a snowman!

Cyclamen

We always have a red miniature cyclamen on the kitchen table at Christmas.

So, what has to go in a Christmas stocking? What is it not a 'real' stocking without?

I do small stockings for the kids each year, to open first thing in the morning (we do the big presents mid-morning, with champagne). Each stocking has ten items, no more no less. One of those items has to be a bag of chocolate coins. Another is always a snowman bath bomb from Lush. These are non-negotiables.

I also usually put in a trashy magazine each (ponies for DD, soccer for DS). This year they're getting a small tube of indoor sparklers each. DD might get some nail varnish. The rest of the items will depend on what I see over the next couple of weeks.

What do you put in Christmas stockings?

In our house, no Christmas stocking could possibly be complete without a bag of chocolate coins from Santa :-)

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without holly.
